Weekend Recap

Whether the fights went your way or not, you definitely got your money's worth this weekend. The Strikeforce Card had everything from neck breaking submissions, bone crushing knockouts, and even a fair share of contraversy. Shinya Aoki defeated Lyle Beerbohm in an extremely brutal neck crank in 93 seconds, giving Aoki his first win on American soil. Tatsuya Kawajiri got demolished by Gilbert Melendez's Elbows 3 min and 14 seconds into the first round. With Zuffa buying Strikeforce maybe we can see a Melendez vs. Edgar for who's the best lightweight fighter, I know I wouldn't mind seeing that. A majority draw between Mousasi and Jardine leaves many people questioning the decision made by officials. Mousasi dominated all three rounds, but the officials took into account a takedown by Jardine, and an illegal knee by Mousasi. For the fight that everyone, including myself, had been dying to see, Diaz vs. Daley. While Daley impressively dropped Nick twice within the first round, but Diaz in his usual fashion came back and flurried knocking Daley out with 3 seconds left. While most are questioning the stoppage, seeing Daley sprawled on the mat well after the fight was stopped proves that Diaz is undoubtingly the Champion. At OTM Pacific Beach there was a Post fight signing Sunday April 10th. In attendace was Dan Henderson, Rick Slaton, Frank Lester, Brett Albee, and Ed Ratcliff. Don't worry if you missed many more of these caliber events to come!
